Case study — product information management

One catalog, five sales channels, zero duplicate edits

How a solo build let a multi-channel seller manage every product listing from a single place instead of updating five separately.

+35%listing completeness in 3 weeks
4ha week handed back to the team
1place to change anything

The problem

My client sold the same products across five different channels at once. Every price change, description update, or new photo meant editing the same listing five separate times — and the listings drifted out of sync constantly, with some channels showing outdated info nobody had caught yet.

Nobody had a clear view of which listings were actually complete and which were missing key information that was quietly hurting conversion.

What I built

Kataio is a product information management system built for sellers running multiple channels at once. Any team plugs in its catalog, gets an automatic quality score on every listing, and pushes updates to every channel from one place.

Instead of five edits for one change, it's one edit, propagated everywhere — with a clear signal on which listings still need work before they're channel-ready.

Under the hood

The core of the system is a single source of truth for product data, with channel-specific formatting handled automatically on the way out, and a scoring layer that flags incomplete or inconsistent listings before they go live.

Role
End-to-end build — architecture, backend, integrations, deployment
Timeline
Solo build, iterative rollout
Stack
Central product data layer, multi-channel sync, automated quality scoring
Status
Live, in active use

The result

Listing completeness rose 35% in the first three weeks, and the team got roughly four hours a week back that used to go into manually keeping five channels in sync. Now there's exactly one place to change anything.

Managing product data across too many channels by hand?
